Chiropractic Care

Although chiropractors are very good at relieving back pain, they are more accurately described as a brain or nervous system doctor, rather than a back doctor. Pain is the last sign to show up when a misalignment of the spine has occurred, and it is the first thing to disappear during treatment.

For example, when a fire alarm rings in your home, and you turn off the alarm, have you fixed the problem, or have you simply silenced the warning? What happens if you only silence the warning signs and don’t find the cause? The same is true with your body. If you have a migraine, and you “turn off” the pain with drugs, have you found the cause? Or silenced the warning? What is your body trying to tell you?

Brain-Based Chiropractic Care works to find the cause of the stress (the “fire”) and remove the interference in order to balance the body, and to help your body to function properly.

Ask your chiropractor to check you and your loved ones for imbalances that may be holding you back.

Phase 1: Relief Care

If you are in pain when you come into our office, the first objective is to help you feel better. Depending on the severity of your problem, it is typical to need care 2-3 times per week for anywhere from 4-12 weeks.

Phase 2: Corrective Care

During the corrective care phase, muscles and other tissues are allowed to heal more completely, thereby helping to prevent injury. It is typical to need care 4-8 times per month for 6-24 months, depending on your lifestyle and the severity of the problem.

Phase 3: Wellness Care

Once your body has fully healed, it is important to come in for periodic check-ups to avoid problems in the future. Usually, this only requires a quick visit to the chiropractor 1-4 times per month, based on your lifestyle and goals.

What Makes This Practice Different?

At Stillpoint Family Chiropractic, we are a Brain Based, family wellness Center. We recognize that the Nervous System controls everything in the body from digesting, sleeping, and immune support, to thinking, laughing, and hormone production. If you don’t already know, your spine (from tailbone to skull) is a protective shield for your nervous system. Sometimes, whether due to physical stress, chemical stress, or even emotional stress, the spine can become misaligned, which cuts off communication from the nervous system to the brain – YIKES! This can be the source of many ailments and diseases such as Migraines, Low Immune System Response, High Blood Pressure (Hypertension), Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Fibromyalgia, Insomnia and more. In infants and children, misalignments can disguise themselves as Colic, Autism, ADD, and Ear Infections.

At Stillpoint Family Chiropractic, Dr. P. will check everyone in your family from mom and dad, and grandma and grandpa, to infants, their siblings, and even the cat and the dog! Life happens to everyone – some days are peaceful and some days are chaotic, but with Dr. P’s gentle technique and extended education, her adjustments are safe for everyone. Schedule and a check up for you and your family

A subluxation is a misalignment of the spine. The prefix “Sub” in this word literally translates to under or below; “Lux” refers to light. Therefore, when you are SUBLUXATED, your body is functioning with less than the optimal level of “light”. Think of a light dimming-switch in your home as your spine, and the light bulb as your brain. Would you want your brain to function on the dimmest setting, or the setting that is most illuminating? Now, think about your health in this regard – or perhaps specifically your mental health, or your physical capabilities. Getting checked by a  chiropractor may reveal subluxations that you are not even aware of.

What Causes a SUBLUXATION?

A subluxation can be caused in many ways. Sometimes we know exactly when it happened, and sometimes it happens over a long period of time. The common denominator in all examples is stress – physical, chemical, or emotional.

What is the Difference Between Wellness Care and Health Care ?

WELLNESS is an active, lifelong process of becoming aware of choices and making decisions toward a more balanced and fulfilling life. Wellness involves choices about our lives and our priorities that determine our lifestyles. The Wellness concept is centered on connections and the idea that the mind, body, spirit, and community are all interrelated and interdependent.”

regular chiropractic check-ups, regular exercise, regular community involvement, regular prayer/meditation, proper supplementation, balanced diet, preferably organic, including drinking lots of water, a high probiotic intake, minimal to no grain, minimal to no sugar, high in vegetables Sounds good, right?

HEALTH CARE, or what we have come to re-name as CRISIS CARE, involves immediate treatment of an injury or trauma that could potentially be life threatening, and re-evaluating the body’s immediate needs one day at a time.

(surgery, pharmaceutical drugs, pain killers, antibiotics)
It is important to utilize both types of care, and to use good judgment when each is appropriate.

Pink Elephant in the Room! Is it true that ``Once you go to a Chiropractor, you ALWAYS have to go``?

Consider this … Have you seen your dentist more than once? More than three times? I hope so! Getting your mouth checked and cleaned on a regular basis is a pro-active way of maintaining oral health. Chiropractic is the same. Our HOPE for you is that we do not find a subluxation, and that if we do, you will find balance and stability as fast as possible. Because even though we love you, we would love to see you less. Part of this is influenced by the choices you make. Do you have a well balanced diet? Do you exercise regularly? Do you make time for family and relaxation? We want you to keep your freedom of choice. Choose well.

I served in the US Marine Corps, and I hurt my back during a workout. The pain was so unbearable that I couldn't stand, I couldn't sit, or get through the day at my job. I had never been a fan of chiropractics, thinking it was more akin to voodoo than to real science or medicine. After seven weeks of care I was able to begin working out again.
