Although chiropractors are very good at relieving back pain, they are more accurately described as a brain or nervous system doctor, rather than a back doctor. Pain is the last sign to show up when a misalignment of the spine has occurred, and it is the first thing to disappear during treatment.

For example, when a fire alarm rings in your home, and you turn off the alarm, have you fixed the problem, or have you simply silenced the warning? What happens if you only silence the warning signs and don’t find the cause? The same is true with your body. If you have a migraine, and you “turn off” the pain with drugs, have you found the cause? Or silenced the warning? What is your body trying to tell you?

Brain-Based Chiropractic Care works to find the cause of the stress (the “fire”) and remove the interference in order to balance the body, and to help your body to function properly.

Phase 1: Relief Care

If you are in pain when you come into our office, the first objective is to help you feel better. Depending on the severity of your problem, it is typical to need care 2-3 times per week for anywhere from 4-12 weeks.

Phase 2: Corrective Care

During the corrective care phase, muscles and other tissues are allowed to heal more completely, thereby helping to prevent injury. It is typical to need care 4-8 times per month for 6-24 months, depending on your lifestyle and the severity of the problem.

Phase 3: Wellness Care

Once your body has fully healed, it is important to come in for periodic check-ups to avoid problems in the future. Usually, this only requires a quick visit to the chiropractor 1-4 times per month, based on your lifestyle and goals.

At Stillpoint Family Chiropractic, we are a Brain Based, family wellness Center. What is a SUBLUXATION?

A subluxation is a misalignment of the spine. The prefix “Sub” in this word literally translates to under or below; “Lux” refers to light. Therefore, when you are SUBLUXATED, your body is functioning with less than the optimal level of “light”. Think of a light dimming-switch in your home as your spine, and the light bulb as your brain. Would you want your brain to function on the dimmest setting, or the setting that is most illuminating? Now, think about your health in this regard – or perhaps specifically your mental health, or your physical capabilities. Getting checked by a  chiropractor may reveal subluxations that you are not even aware of.

What Causes a SUBLUXATION?

A subluxation can be caused in many ways. Sometimes we know exactly when it happened, and sometimes it happens over a long period of time. The common denominator in all examples is stress – physical, chemical, or emotional.

I served in the US Marine Corps, and I hurt my back during a workout. The pain was so unbearable that I couldn't stand, I couldn't sit, or get through the day at my job.
