At Stillpoint Family Chiropractic we believe in the value of massage therapy for our patients' health.  For your convenience we offer massage therapy in our office.  Our massage therapist is trained in Swedish, Sports, Thai Massage, as well as Shiatsu, Myofascial Release, Healing Touch, and Reflexology.

Massage: The application of soft-tissue manipulation techniques to the body, generally intended to reduce stress and fatigue while improving circulation. The many variations of massage account for several different techniques. The application of these techniques may include, but is not limited to, stroking, kneading, tapping, compression, vibration, rocking, friction, and pressure to the muscular structure or soft tissues of the human body. This may also include non-forceful passive or active movement and/or application of techniques intended to affect the energetic systems of the body. The use of oils, lotions, and powders may also be included to reduce friction on the skin.

  • Swedish Massage: A system of long strokes, kneading and friction techniques on the more superficial layers of the muscles, combined with active and passive movements of the joints.  Intended to relax and energize you.
  • Sports Massage: Designed to enhance athletic performance, help prevent athletic injury, keep the body flexible and heal the body should injury occur.
  • Thai Massage: A technique in which the therapist uses his or her body to move the massage recipient into a series of poses, and includes muscle compression, joint mobilization and acupressure.
  • Shiatsu (also called acupressure): A Japanese system of applying finger pressure to specific points that lie along specific meridians.
  • Myofascial Release: Uses long, stretching strokes to release muscular tension.
  • Healing Touch: An energy therapy that helps restore and balance energy that has been depleted due to stress, illness, injury, grief, medical conditions, surgery or medical treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation. The goal of Healing Touch is to restore harmony and balance in the human energy system by creating an optimal environment to enable the body's innate tendency for healing to occur.
  • Reflexology: A technique that uses pressure to points on the feet, hands and ears thought to correspond, or "reflex," to all areas of the body.
